Not sure yet. I wouldn't use it on a 6 week old, but a baby Maya's age sounds good. I know a few people who have them whose babies really really didn't like them, but I know few who do and the babies love them. Make sure you keep the receipt and get it right before she comes home so you can return it!
Also you know this, but incase anyone else doesn't, just be safe where you place them, sometimes people put them on unsafe surfice's like countertops - not safe obviously.
And you know I love purple ;-)

I just bought one for a friend that is due in March. Everyone at the shower had to read the box. They were surprised that such a thing existed and they had not heard of it. I plan to take one down to Guatemala on my visit trip and also buy one to have at home.

I've heard great things about these...and asked on our agency BB about sending stuff/taking stuff down. I think it depends on baby tho and that the early months are really the great months to use... only because at 5/6 months, baby may want to be on tummy trying to creep, etc.. Ellie was nearly crawling on all 4's when I picked her up at a week shy of 6 months (not the norm there) and dont think she would have liked it altho think it would have been great for promoting upper body tone/strength (which we're still working on ). For Alex who didnt crawl forever (like 9 months) and who liked to sit and concentrate on things, I suspect he would have loved it. I saw on ebay that there's now an activity tray you can put on it too ...

Gabriella sat in hers maybe 6 times. It wasn't long before she was launching herself out of it. I really think it depends on the baby. Once they can really sit up on their own, they don't really need it much any more.
