MAYA'S ADOPTION JOURNEY

WELCOME TO MY JOURNEY TO BRING MY DAUGHTER, MAYA GRACE HOME FROM GUATEMALA. DURING THIS JOURNEY I HAVE STUMBLED OVER MANY MOUNTAINS ONLY TO BUILD MY FAITH. THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE HARDEST JOURNEY'S OF MY LIFE AND IT HAS THE GREATEST PRIZE AT THE END. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO PLACE MY DAUGHTER IN MY ARMS FOREVER. MY DREAMS WILL THEN BE REALITY!!!

RUN TO WIN!!!!!

THE COST OF BEING BLESSED.

SEASONED LONG-DISTANCE RUNNERS HAVE LEARNED TO FOCUS ON ENDURANCE, NOT JUST SPEED. WE AS ADOPTIVE PARENTS CAN BE COMPARED TO THE RUNNERS. THEY PACE THEMSELVES SO THAT AS THEY APPROACH THE FINISH LINE THEY CAN PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS. FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS, QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION. DESPITE SOME DELAYS AND DISAPPOINTMENTS ALONG THE WAY, WE KNOW THAT WE WOULD NEVER BE SATISFIED JUST SITTING ON THE SIDELINES CHEERING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PAID THE PRICE TO RUN THE RACE. SO IF YOU ARE THAT KIND OF PERSON--WHO NEEDS TO ATTAIN THE HOPE OF YOUR CALLING AND FULFILL YOUR GOD-ORDAINED PURPOSE-- GO FOR IT!! AND DON'T FORGET, JESUS SAID, "GREAT GIFTS MEAN GREAT RESPONSIBILITIES" (LUKE 12:48). WINNING WILL COST YOU IN TERMS OF PRESSURE, CRITICISM, LONELINESS AND SACRFICE. SO, WHAT IS THE SECRET TO STAYING POWER? NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF WHERE YOU ARE HEADED (TO GET YOUR BABY)!!!! YOU WILL ONLY ENDURE THE PAIN OF WAITING WHEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO. WE ALL HAVE A BABY IN GUATEMALA WAITING FOR US. GOD EXPOSES US TO OPPOSITION AND CRITICISM TO STRENGTHEN OUR CHARACTER. THERE SHOULD BE A LOT OF VERY STRONG CHARACTERS IN THE WORLD. THAT WAY WHEN GREATER BLESSINGS COME, WE WON'T CRACK. SUCCESS COMES ONLY WHEN YOU'RE COMMITTED AND HAVE THE PASSION TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE. SO THE QUESTION IS: CAN YOU STAND TO BE BLESSED? IF YOUR ANSWER IS YES, GET YOU EYE ON THE GOAL (BRINGING OUR BABIES HOME), "RUN TO WIN," AND YOU ARE SURE TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE!!!!!!

I FOUND THIS IN A BOOK AND CHANGED A FEW THINGS AROUND TO FIT THE ADOPTION WORLD. I READ IT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE POSTING IT. I THINK IT IS FOR ME. I HAVE MY EYE ON MY PRIZE (SEE TOP OF POST) AND I WILL CROSS THE FINISH LINE.

You bet!!! I love it...great analogy! The prize IS worth the fight and the wait and all the pain that goes along with it!! Keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus as your prize, and it will all happen the way it is suppossed to!

That reminded me of something another adoption-friend said to me one day. She said that if God only gives us what we can handle, that she wished he didn't think so highly of her! Eye on the prize, focus, keep the pace. I feel the power coming on. Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Great post!!! I know it's hard to keep this attitude when you're missing your kiddo so much, but you are right -- she is worth it!!!! I've heard others describe adoption as "a marathon where the finish line keeps moving" . . . I totally agree with that, but I'll add that the finish line really is there somewhere -- I hope that yours is coming up quick!!!!

I am a single mother with a daughter from Guatemala. I brought her home on August 21st, 2007. I am loving every second of motherhood. Maya is the love of my life. I can't imagine life without her. I thank God everyday that she is home in my arms.
