THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE HARDEST JOURNEY'S OF MY LIFE AND IT HAS THE GREATEST PRIZE AT THE END. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO PLACE MY DAUGHTER IN MY ARMS FOREVER. MY DREAMS WILL THEN BE REALITY!!!

OUR VISIT WITH MAYA'S FOSTER FAMILY!!

ME AND MAYA IN HER OLD BEDROOM!!
MAYA GETTING READY TO GET THE BREAD!!!
THIS IS WHAT THEY MADE FOR US TO EAT. TAMALES!!! THEY SAID IT WAS MAYA'S FAVORITE AND SHE GOT IT EVERY SATURDAY. THEY WERE RIGHT, SHE DID LOVE THEM. ME AND DEBORAH HAD A REALLY HARD TIME SWALLOWING THEM. THEY ARE NOT MY FAVORITE. THEY ALSO HAD HOT COCOA FOR US TO DRINK. IT WAS VERY TASTY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 100 DEGREES IN THEIR HOUSE.
WE ARE AT CHURCH AND MAYA IS THANKING GOD THAT SHE IS GOING HOME. SHE LOVED CHURCH. SHE WAS SO CUTE CLAPPING HER LITTLE HANDS.
INSIDE THE CHURCH. IT WAS DECORATED VERY PRETTY IN PINK AND PURPLE.
THE BED ON THE LEFT IS WHERE MAYA SLEPT.
MAYA IN HER TRADITIONAL GUATEMALAN CLOTHES (GIVEN TO HER BY THE FOSTER FAMILY) SITTING ON HER OLD BED.
MAYA WITH HER FOSTER MOM.
MAYA WITH ONE OF THE FOSTER MOMS DAUGHTERS. SHE DID A LOT OF THE CARE FOR MAYA.
MAYA AND HER FOSTER PAPA. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAD EVER SEEN HIM. HE WAS VERY QUIET BUT NICE.

WELL, WHERE DO I START??? MAYA'S FOSTER FAMILY PICKED US UP AT 5 PM LAST NIGHT. WE FIRST WENT TO THEIR HOME. I FELT SO HONORED TO BE IN THE HOUSE THAT MAYA LIVED IN THE FIRST YEAR OF HER LIFE. IT WAS A VERY CLEAN AND NICE HOME. NOT AT ALL WHAT I HAD IN MY HEAD. THERE WAS A KITCHEN, AND 3 BEDROOMS. ONE ROOM HAD 2 BEDS, ONE HAD 3 BEDS AND ONE WITH ONLY 1 BED. THEY COOKED TAMALES, BREAD, AND HOT COCOA FOR DINNER. I COULDN'T HARDLY SWALLOW THE TAMALES BUT I DID MANAGE TO EAT 3/4 OF IT. THE BREAD AND COCOA WAS VERY GOOD. MAYA LOVED THE TAMALES. I WAS WORRIED HOW MAYA MIGHT REACT. SHE WANTED ME THE ENTIRE TIME. IT MADE ME AND THE FOSTER MOM FEEL SOOOO GOOD. MAYA REALLY LOVES ME AND KNOWS THAT I AM HER MOMMY. AFTER EATING WE PACKED 8 PEOPLE IN A VERY TINY CAR AND WENT TO CHURCH. IT WAS AWESOME!!! THEY HAVE SET A VERY STRONG FOUNDATION FOR MAYA. SHE WAS CLAPPING WITH THE MUSIC. IT WAS WAY TOO CUTE. WE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD BUT WE COULD FEEL THE SPIRIT. WE WERE WELCOMED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. AT THE END OF THE SERVICE THE PREACHER CALLED US TO THE FRONT FOR PRAYER. DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT HE SAID. I AM SO THANKFUL THAT I COULD EXPERIENCE THIS. I HAVE TONS OF PICTURES TO SHOW MAYA ONEDAY.

Ok Ginger...I'm not going to lie. I am incredibly, pathetically jealous!!! I wish so badly that I could have seen where Peanut lived for that part of her life. So instead, I'm going to live vicariously through you. ;) I'm so happy you were able to do this! Those memories will be priceless for your little Guatemalan princess!

Hey girl. I looked back in my old emails to find what my agency told me to fill out for the Embassy. Our attorney had done it all though so all we needed was our passports. You can find the forms on the web. You don't need the dossier or any of the financial stuff either because you've visited her. Hope this helps!

    Copy of dossier
-Top 2 pages of last 3 years tax returns with W2s
-Original BCs, marriage certificate, divorce decree
-USCIS Form I864 (and I864A if you're using more than one income)
-US Dept. of State Form 230
-US Dept. of State Form 1981 (Vaccination Form)
    -Copy of 171-H

What an incredibly special gift for you and Maya to share. I would LOVE to see where K. lived, and attend church with his Foster Family. Maya will always treasure those pictures. What an amazing, amazing time!

Thanks for the offer to use your laptop. Quite frankly, I REALLY hope you're not there to let me use it ;) I hope you can get your appointment changed and get HOME. You and Maya need to get back.

Those are priceless pictures you will have to share with Maya. I am jealous too. We weren't even allowed to visit the foster family. I still wonder what was up with that... seems fishy to me.
Good luck at the USE tomorrow...

How awesome that you could have the experience. The love that they have for her is evident in the wonderful care they gave her and in preparing her for her Mom. I hope one day to be able to return and visit B's foster family again.

Ginger--That is incredible that you got to see where Maya lived and went to church. So awesome....and incredibly sweet that she wanted you the whole time even in the presence of people who raised her the first year of her life. Such an awesome testimony of how the Lord has prepared her little heart to have you as her mama.

I am a single mother with a daughter from Guatemala. I brought her home on August 21st, 2007. I am loving every second of motherhood. Maya is the love of my life. I can't imagine life without her. I thank God everyday that she is home in my arms.
